Winner of the Best Male at the UK’s Student Radio Awards 2012 Ethan O’Leary is covering Dev’s early morning show on BBC Radio 1 next week.
The one off programme is part of the prize which he picked up last November for his work on Spark FM in Sunderland – where he attended college.
The Cork-born presenter started his radio career at 96FM as a newsreader whilst at university before moving to the UK and told RadioToday he is looking forward to being on national radio: “I’ve been working with them in the last week and it was really cool to see it and be in the Radio 1 environment.
“When you’re in student radio you’re always working towards something but to be thrown in to it, it’s fantastic because you don’t expect it.”
Ethan has since graduated but still helps at Spark in Sunderland whilst looking for a full time radio job. See more at the BBC website.
