Emmy for Spirit Radio host Ronan Johnston

Spirit Radio presenter Ronan Johnston was part of the recent International Emmy award-winning team of Chris O’Dowd’s Moone Boy.

The Wicklow based man composed the soundtrack for the series of Moone Boy which airs to audiences across Ireland and the UK.

Show creators Chris O’ Dowd and Nick Vincent Murphy were on hand in New York’s Hilton Hotel on Tuesday last to accept the International Emmy Comedy Award for the show’s first season, which aired in September 2012.

Ronan who presents his show Rojo on Spirit Radio on weekdays composed the soundtrack for the show. He said “I loved working on the music for the show, and I’m extremely happy for the recent win. It is very much deserved,”

The 41st International Emmy Awards saw entries from dozens of regions, with ‘Moone Boy’ winning out over competition from Brazil, France, and South Africa in the comedy category alone.

Ronan is already working on the music for the next series whilst continuing to host his Monday to Friday 9am till midday show on Spirit Radio.
