Stern’s birthday show goes live and free

Howard Stern’s upcoming public birthday bash in New York will be streamed internationally next week via the SiriusXM website.

His programme is normally only available to subscribers and geo-locked to the United States, but for one night only, the barriers are being removed as a number of special guests join him live from New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

The pre-show starts at 4pm ET (9pm in the UK) Friday 31st January and we’re told it will be available on mobile devices too.

The main show starts two hours later and guests will include David Letterman, Jon Bon Jovi and more.

“I am honored by the number of performers who want to join me on stage, and the number of fans who want to get in,” said Howard Stern. “Now, thanks to SiriusXM, I can give the world access to this event for free through this special internet audio stream in addition to my fans listening on their satellite radios.”

“We are thrilled to invite not only millions of SiriusXM subscribers to listen to ‘Howard Stern’s Birthday Bash,’ but also give even millions and millions more Howard Stern fans free access to this once in a lifetime celebration,” said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM President and Chief Content Officer.
