Communicorp’s 98FM has taken over from RTÉ as official media sponsor of Dublin Pride this year.
A comment on Facebook says: “RTÉ were official partners on the event but following “Pantigate” and all the controversy at the moment – PRIDE decided best to move partners.”
Dave de Valera from 98FM told RadioToday: “We are delighted to be the Official Media Sponsor for Dublin Pride 2014. We’re very excited to get involved and make this the best Pride Festival yet.”
The parade kicks off on June 15 and organisers are also looking forward to having 98FM on board for the long term: “Dublin LGBTQ Pride are delighted to be associated with 98FM and to have them as our media sponsor for the 2014 Festival. As our preparations gain momentum, we hope that this will prove to be a lasting, mutually beneficial relationship, and we’re very much looking forward to working together,” said Jason Flynn, Chairperson of the Dublin Pride Festival.
The radio station and organisers are expecting to release more details of the deal in the coming weeks.
