Local sport is set to be recognised by Radio Kerry with the introduction of the Kerry Sports Awards.
The station has teamed up with local motor dealer Randles Bros with the aim of covering all sports, taking into consideration both teams and individuals. The monthly award winner will be announced by Radio Kerry’s Weeshie Fogarty during his programme on the last Monday of each month.
The winners will be presented with a specially commissioned Kerry Sports Award and they will be profiled on Radio Kerry’s Terrace Talk.
Speaking at the announcement of the Kerry Sports Awards Radio Kerry’s Chief Executive Paul Byrne said: “It is fitting that in a county renowned countrywide for its sporting prowess and achievements that these awards should seek to further recognise the people involved and promote the importance of sport in the community.”
David Randles, MD of Randles Bros, sponsors of the new Kerry Sports Awards was equally effusive about the value of sport to Kerry: “Randles Bros are delighted to be associated with such a positive endorsement of Kerry Sport.”
The awards were created by presenter Weeshie Fogarty who says he is very happy to see the awards come to fruition: “I’m looking forward to the tough task ahead of picking just one monthly winner!,” he said.
