Radiodays Europe gets underway in Dublin

Radio professionals from all over Europe are gathered in Dublin for the next couple of days for this year’s RadioDays event.

Early arrivals over the weekend were treated to pre-conference workshops or a number of less educational events such as a tour of RTÉ Radio or a two hour pub crawl.

Radiodays Europe officially got underway with a social gathering at a Dublin venue Cafe en Seine, complete with Irish dance lessons and special guest the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Oisín Quinn.

This morning the first session starts at 9am as hosts Paul Robinson (UK Radio Academy) and Claire Byrne (RTÉ presenter) introduce the IBI’s John Purcell, RTÉ’s Noel Curran, AER’s Stefan Möller and Nyberg Frankenhaeuser from the EBU.

Then the BBC’s Helen Boaden is one part of a panel from across Europe talking about Radio’s Connected Future.

Then in the main room, four programme managers discuss radio and programming in Ireland and around Europe. On the stage will be Dave Kelly from UTV, Liam Thompson of Communicorp, Gabrielle Cummins from Best 102-103 and RTÉ 2fm’s Dan Healy.
