Peter Woods has been appointed as Current Affairs Editor of RTÉ Radio 1.
Former series producer of Saturday with Claire Byrne on RTÉ Radio 1, Peter Woods has worked in RTÉ for over fifteen years. Peter was series producer of 5-7 Live, Documentary on One and RTÉ Radio 1’s flagship programme – Drivetime. He has also worked across a full range of programmes on Radio 1 including sport, arts and features.
Peter Woods, Current Affairs Editor, RTÉ Radio 1 says: “I’m delighted to take up this position, it will be a challenge as this group of programmes are the power house of RTÉ Radio, delivering consistently to the biggest audiences in the country. All of which is based on a cohort of the best presenters and best production teams. Everything in RTÉ Radio is about the team.”
Speaking of Mr. Wood’s appointment Tom McGuire, Head of RTÉ Radio 1, said: “Peter brings to the position vast experience in current affairs journalism across the RTÉ Radio 1 schedule. He is an acclaimed documentary maker and novelist, his broadcasting experience is of particular benefit to all programme makers. I look forward to working with Peter and his fellow editors in continuing to deliver quality programming to national and international audiences.”
