New digital on-air studio for Cork’s 96FM

Cork’s most listened-to radio station, Cork’s 96FM, has unveiled a brand new digital on-air studio.

The new studio was designed by Broadcast Technical Services (BTS) and 96FM & C103’s in-house technical team of John Cahill and Kyrl Cahill. It was officially opened this Tuesday, June 23rd, by the Chairman of UTV Media plc, Richard Huntingford.

UTV Media owns Cork’s 96FM as well as it’s Cork-based sister station, C103. The company also own FM104 and Q102 in Dublin; Live95FM in Limerick and LM FM in Drogheda, and recently launched TV channel UTV Ireland.

Richard Huntingford was in Cork along with the other directors of UTV Media plc for their board meeting which was held at 96FM’s broadcasting House for the first time. Speaking to staff at the official opening, he said he and his fellow directors were delighted to be visiting Cork, adding: “Cork’s 96FM’s Broadcasting House is a lovely building and is a wonderful location for a radio station. This new studio is the icing on the cake. I wish all staff who will use it continued success!”

Chief Executive of Cork’s 96FM & C103, Kieran McGeary added: “the significant investment in this new studio underpins our ongoing commitment to continue providing the people of Cork with the best possible service. This studio future proofs our radio station for many years to come.”
