Shortlist for the 2016 PPI Radio Awards revealed

The PPI Radio Awards 2016 have today announced the shortlist for this year’s Awards.

90 judges, drawn from the industry in Ireland and Europe, judged 282 hours of submissions from the 700 entries across 37 categories. The ceremony will take place at the Lyrath Estate Hotel, Kilkenny on Friday October 7th, sponsored by PPI and the BAI.

The judging itself took over 34 hours to complete before arriving at the shortlist for the 2016 PPI Radio Awards. Judges commented that this year the entries reflected the immense talent and creativity within the radio industry in Ireland today. Those shortlisted vie to take home Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards.

Sean Murtagh, Chairman PPI Radio Awards Committee said “The 90 judges for this year’s PPI Radio Awards have all worked extremely hard, using their skill and experience to identify the best of the best in Irish radio. With the increasingly high standard of entries, this has not been an easy job and we thank them for their dedication to this most important task and we wish all shortlisted entrants the very best of luck!”

BAI Chief Executive, Michael O’Keefe said of this year’s shortlist “Congratulations to all the entries that have made the PPI Radio Awards Shortlist in 2016. The range of stations represented is a testimony to the enduring quality of Radio in Ireland and its connection with the audiences served.
