The Sodshow recognised at London media event

Ireland’s longest running garden podcast and former radio show The Sodshow has been recognised in London.

The show, hosted by horticulturist Peter Donegan, reached the finals of The Garden Media Guild awards (UK) 2017. The first ever Irish broadcast to reach the shortlist for Radio Broadcast of the Year.

Whilst former winners have included The Royal Horticultural Society, The Guardian Newspaper and The BBC Gardeners Question Time (first aired 1947), Peter Donegan’s unsponsored production this year was up against The Sun newspapers Peter Seabrook, former Guardian Editor Jane Perrone and the overall winners of the accolade Marion Foster (pictured with Peter) of The BBC.

“It’s not that I’m not proud. I am. But getting to an FA Cup final and up against the best of the world’s garden media may not be the worst analogy. I think even Paddy Power would have bet against me and it really was a moment of pride to see the name appear alongside the true greats”, noted Donegan.

With two live podcasts this year, one from Salt Lake City Utah and noted by Gardenista in the Best Garden Podcasts of 2017, it may be fair to suggest you watch this space.

The Sodshow is available every Friday in iTunes, all good podcast stores and Sodshow.com
