Steve McQuarrie leaves Radio Nova for FM104

Steve McQuarrie who presents Radio Nova’s Friday & Saturday night request shows is moving from the rock station to Dublin’s FM104.

McQuarrie, who has been with Nova for almost 2 years and is also the FAI’s stadium announcer in the Aviva Stadium, presents his last show with them from 7pm to 10pm tonight, Friday May 22nd.

Speaking about his departure, he said: “I can’t even begin to thank (Nova CEO) Kevin Branigan enough for the guidance, the opportunities, and the faith he has shown in me since day 1. Now, I’m really looking forward to the exciting challenge of working in FM104!”.

For his part, Branigan told RadioToday: “Steve’s a great guy – very committed and professional – and worked really hard during his 18 months on Nova. We’re going to miss him here at Nova, but I wish him the very best in FM104”.

Speaking to RadioToday yesterday evening, FM104 Programme Director Dave Kelly said: “We are always looking for new on air talent, so when I heard Steve, I just knew he would fit FM104!”.

Joining Steve in FM104’s refreshed weekend line-up is Gavin Dowd, a former presenter with Communicorp’s online youth station FRQ.fm.

Dave Kelly added: “This is our second signing this week;- Gavin Dowd is 16 and has great potential down the line.  I’d like to wish both lads the very best of luck and welcome them to Dublin’s market leader”.
