2fm’s Eoghan McDermott is launching Ravelóid

A brand new music festival is being launched as part of Ireland 2016 Programme by RTÉ 2fm’s Eoghan McDermott tonight.

Ravelóid – the first music festival to be held through Irish next summer – will be launched at a special concert in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, 7pm, today.

Ravelóid is a new music and culture festival taking place from the 10th – 11th June 2016 at Ardgillan Castle, Dublin, and is being billed as the biggest Irish language event of the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme.

2fm is supporting Ravelóid and will bring its listeners news and updates in the run up to the event in addition to a live broadcast from the launch today between 4 – 7pm.

Live music will be provided by Kila at the launch tonight (Wednesday) as well as a panel discussion about the festival, directed by Eoghan McDermott and both food and drink will be provided until 8pm.

The festival will take place next summer on the grounds of Ardgillan Castle in north county Dublin, where camping will be available free of charge for the 5,000 people who will attend.

Tomaí Ó Conghaile, Chairperson of the Ravelóid Committee says: “Ravelóid welcomes everyone to attend this electrifying event, the newest and most lively festival in the Irish language world that will celebrate and highlight the vibrancy and diversity of today’s Gaeilge culture. Don’t worry, there won’t be an oral exam at the gate so come join us next summer and become a Ravelóidí!”
