2fm’s Colm Hayes is to leave RTÉ after 10 years

RTÉ 2fm’s current weekend breakfast presenter Colm Hayes is to leave the station.

Colm joined RTÉ ten years ago, initially to co-present the Colm and Jim Jim Breakfast Show. Following Jim Nugent’s departure, Colm presented various talk and phone in shows for 2fm, as well as evening drivetime show Drive By, where he forged a partnership with comedian Al Porter.

Dan Healy, Head of RTÉ 2fm says: “Colm Hayes is one of the most outstanding broadcasters in the country. Over the last ten years he has produced some of the best radio on 2fm. Along with my colleagues I wish him continued success in his future career.”

Says Colm Hayes: “I’ve loved my time at 2fm, and now is the time to move on. Just as 2fm is evolving and changing, so am I. I wish all the team in 2fm the best of luck and I’d like to say thank you to all the people I have worked with in RTÉ over the last ten years.”

RTÉ says Colm Hayes will now concentrate on a number of projects he has been working on with his media production company.
