Frenchman starts online Irish radio station Eirewave

Eirewave – a new radio station playing contemporary Irish music – has been launched online.

Eirewave was founded by Olivier Mauxion, a Frenchman who has worked with radio stations across Europe and all around the world – including in France, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey and Russia.

Speaking about the launch of Eirewave, Mauxion told RadioToday.ie: “There is a huge amount of talented musicians and singers in Ireland and they are not visible enough to me, I never seen that in another country, the music is everywhere and the busking is something that you can’t find anywhere else, this is why I had this idea, to broadcast 250 Irish songs per day on a radio and creating a platform who could be a link between the artists, the listeners and the music industry.

“The contemporary Irish music has a very special soul, listening all these songs in a row creates something very unique. Our team has a huge expertise of many years of the radio, production or music business, in many different companies they never given up their passion and energy.

“When I listen to Eirewave I feel that I could get out and start creating things that would make a difference, and promoting Irish music all around the world is a very exciting challenge.”

Eirewave is aiming to create a platform for contemporary Irish music, targetting listeners around the world who want to feel connected to home.
