Radio Nova presenters PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe are backing this year’s Dickie Dip fundraiser for men’s cancer care at the Mater Hospital.
The Morning Glory presenters will take part in the event at Skerries on Saturday 7 November, when organisers hope to bring together more than 500 men for a plunge into the Irish Sea.
PJ and Jim currently present Morning Glory on Radio Nova every weekday from 6am until 10am, having first teamed up on air in 2016.
Participants enter the water wearing nothing but a dickie bow, with money raised supporting cancer treatment and care at the Mater Public Hospital.
Since the first Dickie Dip in 2019, participants have raised more than €750,000 for the hospital.
PJ said: “If a few minutes in the Irish Sea can help raise awareness and support men facing cancer, then we’ll happily do it all over again for a third year.
“As difficult as it is for me to be in the nip in public, it’s still easier than getting into the Irish Sea in November!”
Jim added: “What surprises people most is the atmosphere. You have fathers and sons, brothers, friends, workmates and complete strangers all standing shoulder to shoulder.”
He said they would like to see 500 men taking part on the beach this year.
