RTÉ lyric fm is broadcasting 12 new episodes of Ambient Orbit, including a live winter solstice special from County Mayo.
The ninth series begins on Sunday 4 October, featuring performances recorded at festivals across Ireland during the summer, alongside new field recordings from locations around the country.
The programme includes performances from Love Is A Stranger at Ballyvolane House in County Cork, Kilkenny Arts Festival at Rothe House, Another Love Story at Killyon Manor in County Westmeath and Dublin by Dusk at the Douglas Hyde Gallery in Trinity College.
Artists featured in the series include Rhiannon Giddens, Daniel Luke, Eimear Reidy, Ultan O’Brien and Anna Mieke, alongside other musicians performing ambient music.
New field recordings have been made at Annascaul Lake in County Kerry and Coole Park Nature Reserve in County Galway, capturing local wildlife and the surrounding environment.
The series concludes on 21 December with a live broadcast from Killadangan Megalithic Complex in County Mayo to mark the winter solstice.
Ambient Orbit first aired on RTÉ lyric fm in October 2022 and is produced by Peter Curtin and Áine Gallagher. The programme has no presenter, instead combining ambient music with field recordings from the Irish landscape.
The new series will be broadcast on Sunday nights at midnight, with a repeat on Friday mornings at 6am. Episodes will also be available through RTÉ Listen.
Previous series are available on the RTÉ lyric fm website.
