Listeners in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick can now hear Freedom FM on traditional FM radios for the next month.
The station has started a 30 day broadcast across the four cities, bringing its mix of music from the 1990s and 2000s to the analogue band alongside its existing DAB+ and online services.
The temporary return is part of a campaign called “30 Days of Freedom”, featuring new station sound design, themed music specials, decade countdowns and listener giveaways throughout the month.
Freedom FM is broadcasting on 105.2 FM in Dublin, 87.8 FM in Cork, 87.9 FM in Galway and 105.5 FM in Limerick.
Station Manager Sean Power said: “Taking Freedom FM to the FM band for the next 30 days lets us connect directly with listeners on everyday car radios and home stereos alongside our DAB+ and online streams.”
Sean added that the special programming would revisit the music of dancefloors and charts from the two decades, with the station introducing new imaging for the broadcasts.
Freedom FM is part of Emerald Media Group and broadcasts on its DAB+ trial network. It also provides opportunities for emerging Irish radio presenters, offering practical broadcasting experience and airtime.
The station continues to broadcast around the clock online, with listening also available through smart speakers and mobile apps.
