RTÉ Radio 1 plans extended Budget 2027 coverage

RTÉ Radio 1 will broadcast more than two and a half hours of live Budget 2027 coverage from Dáil Éireann on Tuesday.

An extended News at One with Rachael English will run from 12.45pm until 3.30pm, carrying the Budget speeches live alongside immediate reaction and analysis of the Government’s financial plans.

At 4pm, Katie Hannon and Colm Ó Mongáin will present a Drivetime budget special looking at the main announcements, including an interview with Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Jack Chambers.

Later, Cormac Ó hEadhra will present Late Debate live from Buswells Hotel from 10pm, with politicians and experts discussing the detail of Budget 2027.

RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta will provide coverage as Gaeilge, with Máirín Ní Ghadhra presenting Lá na Cáinaisnéise live from Leinster House from 1.30pm. The programme will include analysis and interviews with politicians, including Minister for Social Protection and Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht Dara Calleary.

Fachtna Ó Drisceoil will also present Tús Áite from Leinster House, hosting a debate between Government and Opposition TDs alongside a panel of commentators.

Coverage will continue on Wednesday morning with Morning Ireland on RTÉ Radio 1, followed at 10am by the annual budget phone in special on Today with David McCullagh.

David will be joined by Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris and Jack Chambers, with listeners invited to put questions directly to the two ministers.

RTÉ’s Budget 2027 coverage will also run across television, RTÉ Player, RTÉ Listen, the RTÉ News app and its online services.
