Mel & MC will return to work, says SCA

News of a replacement show for Mel Greig and Michael Christian’s Hot 30 Countdown has sparked reaction that they won’t be returning to the Australian radio network.

But Southern Cross Austereo has pointed out today that, even though the new show called The Bump with Angus O’Loughlin is a permanent replacement, it doesn’t mean Mel & MC aren’t coming back.

PR manager Vicki Heath said the duo were still “absolutely employed” by the network, which was “working with them” to determine possible future roles during their continued “stress leave”.

In a statement on news.com.au, SCA CEO Rhys Holleran said:

“We look forward to Mel and MC returning to work when the time is right, in roles that make full use of their talents – we will discuss future roles with them when they are ready.”

Heath also confirmed ‘The Bump’ will be produced by former Hot 30 EP Emily Mills and assistant producer Ben Harlum, who played the roles of the corgis in the royal prank.
