Here’s some potentially good news for radio as Twitter makes SoundCloud its first third-party streaming service.
A number of services have been chosen as the first ‘creators’ which includes BBC World Service and Mad Dog Sports Radio in America.
The new facility, part of the Twitter app on Android and Apple phones, puts a play button inside the tweet then allows the user to ‘dock’ the audio so the user can continue using Twitter.
Twitter said: “We’re just beginning to test the Audio Card and plan to make it available to more partners and creators in the future so that many more musical artists and creators will be able to share exclusive, in-the-moment audio to millions of listeners on Twitter.”
This move gives radio stations an additional way to distribute their content to listeners.
