Newstalk has announced the return of comedy news panel You Couldn’t Make It Up to its weekend schedule.
The irreverent 10-part weekly half-hour show will air on Saturday, January 19th and be recorded in front of a live studio audience.
Co-produced and hosted by broadcaster Pat O’Mahony, the show will feature Irish comedic talent divided into teams of two. Each team will be let loose to analyse, fillet and ridicule the week’s Irish and international headlines as well as the less well known more offbeat stories.
As the show progresses, the selected duo will assemble three key elements for a comic sketch which they’ll perform as the climax to the show. Upcoming guests on the show include Karl Spain, Sharon Mannion, Paddy Courtney and Joe Rooney.
Commenting on the new show, Newstalk Managing Editor, Patricia Monahan said: “We are delighted to be bringing back this exciting comedy show to our listeners. You Couldn’t Make It Up will give people a different take on the week’s news which will include everything from Brexit to Donald Trump to the topical Irish issues of the week!”
Recorded at Tramline in Dublin City centre in front of a live audience from January 17th to March 21st 2019, ‘You Couldn’t Make It Up’ will go out on Newstalk the following Saturday from January 19th to March 23rd at 9.30am.
‘You Couldn’t Make It Up’ is a Firebrand production funded by the BAI Sound & Vision Fund, with Tesco Ireland as broadcast sponsor.
