Community radio station planned for Tramore

Following a number of pilot radio services by Tramore Community Radio, the BAI is now seeking full time applications for a radio station for the area.

A public notice seeking the application has been placed in the relevant local paper around Tramore and its Environs.

Tramore Community Radio Limited will no doubt be one of the applicants, after running 100-day pilot community radio services.

The BAI says the station should be primarily talk-based in nature, with a community focus. “It should address the interests of, and seek to provide a social benefit to, people in the Tramore area and should be non-profit maximising. It should also facilitate access to, and involvement in, the service by individuals and groups living in the franchise area”.

The BAI has developed a Guide to Submissions for the provision of a community radio service for Tramore and its Environsin order to assist with the application process. Further details regarding the application process and access to the relevant documents can be found bai.ie.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon on Monday 9th May.
