Newstalk retains Premier League season rights

Newstalk is continuing to provide coverage of Premier League games for the next few years.

This follows the renewal of the Premier League’s deal with Newstalk for another three seasons from 2019 to 2022, meaning every Sunday two games will be broadcast in full by the Off the Ball team of sports broadcasters from the Communicorp station.

The assembled talents of Kevin Kilbane, Brian Kerr, Gary Breen and the usual cast of OTB pundits alongside commentators Nathan Murphy, Stephen Doyle, Dave McIntyre will bring all the action every Sunday on the Off the Ball show on Newstalk hosted by Joe Molloy.

Speaking on behalf of the Premier League, Paul Molnar, Director of Broadcasting, said: “We are pleased to renew our longstanding partnership with Newstalk for another three years. We know Premier League fans in Ireland are some of the most passionate in the world, so I’m delighted they will once again be able to listen to all of the action on Sundays via Newstalk’s first-class coverage.

“After one of the most exciting title races we’ve seen, there has never been a better time to follow the Premier League and Newstalk’s superb line-up of commentators and pundits means those fans will feel every kick. We look forward to seeing what unpredictable drama the next three years brings.”

Ger Gilroy, Off The Ball MD, said: “We love the Premier League in Ireland, and we’re thrilled to be renewing this deal for another three years. We’ve had a brilliant partnership with the Premier League for more than a decade and a half now, and over that time the quality of players and games has just got better and better with each passing season.

“Being live in the ground, bringing people the sounds of the games that they think about all week, to bring our listeners the thoughts of the biggest names in world football and to be a part of how people live their football every week is a thrill for our team of pundits, commentators and hosts. Bring it on!”
