Newstalk offers placements to 10 transition year students

A week-long placement in Newstalk is being offered to 10 transition year students.

During the week, students will have the opportunity to work hands-on as a journalist and learn how it all comes together in a busy radio station.

The students will be expected to plan and record a radio programme and will receive support and training to help them with the task.

Students will work alongside industry experts and will gain skills to help them in their future careers.

Newstalk is delivering this programme in conjunction with the Learning Waves Skillnet and the Broadcast Authority of Ireland, in line with their Media Literacy Policy. The aim of this policy is to set out a range of skills in order to guide people in navigating new forms of media and to complement existing educational initiatives.

The station says: “We are looking for applications from enthusiastic and passionate transition year students who want an opportunity to try out radio production and understand more about our industry.”
