May I point out that independently produced award winners were not acknowledged as such by IMRO. Credit for winning was given to the broadcasters who often have absolutely nothing to do with the conception or production of the piece in question. I wonder if you’d be interested in doing a follow-up piece to see why independent producers are overlooked, and what might happen if the same thing happened for the IFTAs, for instance?

My GOLD win for Documentary; Arts Music Culture was credited to RTÉ Radio 1 Extra. I paid for the entry, produced it without any oversight or input by RTÉ, yet the broadcaster was given credit for the win.

Independent producers play a major role in producing much of the radio content consumed by Irish audiences. This important role should be clearly and truthfully acknowledged.
