BAI sets date for Dublin Presentations
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland will hear oral presentations for the niche, music-driven radio licence for the Dublin City and County franchise area on April 14th.
Two contenders will let the BAI know all about their applications and proposals, including current licence holder Sunshine 106.8. Easy FM Limited, trading as Country FM are challenging for the Contract.
Sunshine 106.8 says it has delivered on its promise to deliver a niche service over the last 12 years and to date more than €4m has been invested in setting up the station and funding its operations.
Country FM currently runs an online station and is led by Mike McClure aka Mike Ryan, a former presenter on stations including Dublin’s Country 106.8fm, Midland’s 103 and Ocean fm.
The oral presentation will be conducted by the Contract Awards Committee, a statutory committee of the BAI which has responsibility for the assessment of any applications received in a licensing process. The purpose of the oral presentations is to provide each applicant with the opportunity to make a presentation to the Contract Awards Committee, based on the application submitted and to answer any questions or clarifications that the Committee may have in relation to the application.
The time allocated for each applicant is one hour, consisting of a 15-minute presentation, followed by a question and answer session of approximately 30 minutes. The Q&A session will be led by the Chairperson of the Contract Awards Committee.
Following completion of the oral presentation process, the Contract Awards Committee will then assess and score both applications received. Once assessment and scoring is completed, a recommendation will be made to the Authority of the BAI.
The event, taking place at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Golden Lane in Dublin 8, will start at 2.30pm.
