One of Radio Ireland’s founding directors has been appointed as the new chair of the RTÉ Board.
Businesswoman Moya Doherty is also the creator of Riverdance and leads seven board members who have joined or have been re-appointed at the state broadcaster today.
She joins Frank Hannigan, Deborah Kelleher, PJ Matthews, Anne O’Leary, Aengus Mac Grianna, Fergus Armstrong and RTÉ Director-General Noel Curran is also a member of the board.
Ms Doherty said: “The next few years will see RTÉ having to find structures capable of redefining the role of public service broadcasting in a media space transformed by social and digital technologies.
“I am looking forward to the challenge and privilege of working alongside all who are part of the RTÉ community, internal and external, to help to carve a strong identity for the future for the public service broadcaster.”
Moya Doherty’s husband and business partner, John McColgan, is also Chairman of Today FM.
