98FM & Leinster Rugby introduce “The Pitchsider”

Dublin’s 98FM and Leinster Rugby today launched “The Pitchsider” – a luxury four-seater structure designed to give rugby fans a front-line VIP experience.

Leinster Rugby players Fergus McFadden, Luke McGrath, Jimmy Gopperth and team mascot ‘Leo the Lion’ were the first to test out the 98FM Pitchsider today. The structure – the first of its kind in Ireland – aims to bring a money-can’t-buy experience to rugby fans along with the chance to be a pitch side reporter for 98FM.

Featuring heated racing-style leather seats, The 98FM Pitchsider is also equipped with speakers so fans can hear the running commentary throughout the game. Mobile tablets will be provided so fans can follow the game and report live using the station’s twitter handle and, to add to the VIP experience, The 98FM Thunder Team will act as personal butlers and be on hand to bring refreshments, hot-dogs and burgers etc.

Speaking at the launch, Kathryn Ryan, Marketing Manager for 98FM, said: “Pitchsider is unlike anything you’ve seen before in a stadium to watch live sport. This is as close as any Leinster supporter can get to the pitch during a match. It’s definitely the very best seat in the house!”

The winner and their three friends will be greeted by The 98FM Thunder team and handed their pitch side access passes for the match. They are then escorted to their V.I.P heated leather seats where they will find their match programmes, blankets, 98FM and Leinster t-shirts & merchandise. Once seated The Thunders will ensure their comfort and experience is their top priority.

In order for 98FM listeners to win four V.I.P seats they must text ‘PITCHSIDER’ along with their details to 087 798 98 98. The station will be running week long promos where a qualifier will be chosen each day live on air leading up to four winners being chosen to go to a game.

The 98FM Pitchsider will be present at the remaining Leinster home games at the RDS (season 2014/15) starting with Leinster Vs Newport Gwent Dragons this Sunday (15th February).
