Communicorp One has used its first briefing event for advertising agencies to highlight the different means by which people now consume audio content.
The newly merged sales team for national stations Newstalk, & Today FM and Dublin’s TXFM launched on January 1st, promising to bring its clients effective and impactful campaigns across all their platforms.
Communicorp One, headed up by Ray McKeon, occupies the 5th floor of Marconi House – the city centre office building which also houses the studios of the three stations, and has a large and experienced sales team.
Speaking after the briefing, Today FM chief executive Peter McPartlin said “Live radio still dominates. Some 89 per cent of Today FM listeners say they did most of their listening through traditional FM radio, while 85 per cent of Newstalk listeners and 74 per cent of listeners to music station TXFM did so”.
However he hinted that Communicorp are expanding their web and social media output and pushing further into the digital world, pointing to the fact that “playback listening” continues to grow each month, with the success of US crime podcast Serial having reinvigorated industry interest in the phenomenon of “binge-listening”.
