Co. Clare’s independent local radio station Clare FM has launched an all-new revamped weekday schedule with a number of changes coming into effect from this week.
Starting Monday August 31st 2015, Stephen McDermott will now wake up the banner county from 6am with a lively music, competitions and fun-filled breakfast show.
He takes over from Ciara Revins, who moved to breakfast from weekends in February 2013.
Morning Focus – now hosted by Gavin Grace – then begins at 9am and runs until 12 mid-day. Commenting on his new show Gavin said:
“To take on the mantle of Morning Focus is an exciting challenge that I’m really looking forward to. Each morning, we’ll talk about the vital issues that matter in Clare, and making sure those who make the important decisions are held to account. But I’m also really looking forward to hearing peoples’ stories, hopefully helping them solve problems big and small, and having a laugh along the way as well”.
Brian Flynn then takes to the air from 12-3pm with a mix of music from the 60’s to today. Brian is well known in the county for his knowledge of country music and will continue playing country hits throughout the show – particularly in the second (1-2pm) hour, which will be “The Country Hour”.
At 3pm, Padraic Flaherty hosts a fast-paced evening show with a variety of music plus brain teasers, the time tunnel and lots more – followed at 6pm by the return to the daytime schedule of radio legend Mickey Mac, who presents the 1-hour long “Platinum Collection” – a show about memories of music, times spent in Clare, No. 1 songs from the day you were born and more.
One show remaining in its usual slot is the Iconic West Wind – a traditional Irish music show – going out from 7-9pm, after which John Ryan plays some of the best love songs on the radio until midnight.
Commenting on the new schedule Clare FM’s Head of Operations Padraic Flaherty said:
“Clare FM is all about our listeners, through our market research we identified what Clare wanted, and with this in mind we added to our schedule. Our On Air team, the staff of Clare FM along with the management team have worked extremely hard to make this possible and it has been a complete team effort. From Monday you will also hear a new Imagining package that was produced in Clare FM. This is just the beginning, we have lots of BIG surprises coming up over the next few weeks. As we always say, ‘stay tuned for more’!”.
