Midlands 103 this morning launched Safe Cracker – a promotion promising numerous mini-prizes, including a family sun holiday, and which could see one person winning €50,000 or two Mazda cars.
The Safe Cracker promotion will be run at different business premises across the midlands region every day. It started this morning at 10am in Telfords Electrical and DIY superstore in Portlaoise and will run to mid-June.
It features a high-tech titanium & glass safe containing €50,000 in cash – and the keys to two Mazda 3 Executive SE cars from Colton Motors Mazda in Tullamore.
Midlands 103 is challenging listeners to ‘crack the code’ at various locations across Laois, Offaly and Westmeath, free of charge. If someone does, they’ll then be faced with the decision of which to take – the cash or the cars! Entrants will also be put into draws on a daily basis for prizes provided by the host businesses – which will also include Mullingar Greyhound Stadium, Shaws Department Store and the Athlone Town Centre shopping centre – as well as one final draw at the end of the promotion for a family sun holiday.
Station Manager Will Faulkner told RadioToday: “Personally, I’m very excited – and this is a very exciting time for the whole team at Midlands 103! Not only have we achieved our highest market share in two decades, but we’ve recently launched a brand new station sound with a bright and exciting imaging package, and the reaction from our listeners has been fantastic.

Midlands 103 is running other giveaway promotions across the schedule, including “town takeover winning weekends”, which sees the station focus on one town in their area for an entire weekend, giving away prizes from local businesses.
They also have a competition – in conjunction with Birr Carpets and Furnishings – which will see the daytime talk-based programme “Midlands Today with Will Faulkner” give away a €5,000 room makeover as well as two runner-up prizes worth €500. Also, the Drive Time Show with Roy Jennings is giving away a wedding package worth €10,000, as well as tickets to the sold out Bruce Springsteen concert in Croke Park.
