Today FM is celebrating the wedding day of Michelle Roche and Jimmy Kirwin, as they tie the knot in West Cork this afternoon.
The station is known today as ‘Your Day FM’ with Ian Dempsey and Muireann O’Connell broadcasting from the wedding venue as the happy couple, who won their wedding from Today FM, prepare to exchange vows.
Muireann surprised Michelle and Jimmy live on air during today’s show as singer/songwriter Freya Ridings turned up and performed an acoustic version of her single ‘Lost Without You’.

Back in November, Lunchtime presenter Muireann O’Connell (12-2pm) revealed that Today FM would be throwing a wedding but with one catch: they needed a willing couple to say “I Do” and get the chance to win an all-expenses paid wedding day of their dreams. Over 500 couples from across Ireland entered the competition but it was Tullamore’s Michelle and Jimmy who emerged victorious.
As well as Inchydoney Lodge and Spa providing the complete wedding package for the couple and their family and friends, a number of wedding service providers from around the country also got on board to offer their services, from the wedding cake and the band to the suits and the glam squad, not forgetting the all-important wedding bands which were designed bespoke by Gráinne Seoige and her company Grace Diamonds.
Today FM’s Ed Smith will DJ the night away for the wedding party while Muireann O’Connell and Gráinne Seoige will join the celebrations to toast the happy couple.

Today FM presenter Muireann O’Connell said: “I don’t know how people do this in real life because I’m so nervous today! Michelle and Jimmy are the nicest couple I’ve ever met and they deserve a lifetime of happiness together. It’s been an absolute pleasure to be part of their special day”
Bride to be Michelle revealed that today’s date is very special for them in lots of ways: “The wedding is taking place on February 28th and that is actually my mammy’s birthday and then we realised that the 28th of February is also Jimmy’s parents wedding anniversary”
