Just one applicant confirmed for iRadio’s BAI licences

Wilton Radio Limited is the only applicant for the two Regional Music-Driven Youth Sound Broadcasting Services, which is currently broadcasting as iRadio.

iRadio’s owner, Wilton Radio, will now face a fast-track procedure to retain its licences, assuming all the information requested in the Guide to Submissions has been received and that the applications are valid.

The services were advertised by the BAI on the 21st November 2018 and iRadio submitted its application on February 22nd 2019.

Licence one covers the North West – (Counties Donegal. Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, Longford, Roscommon and Galway) whilst the second covers the North East & Midlands – (Counties Louth, Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, Kildare, North-East Laois, Offaly and Westmeath).

The BAI commented: “One application was received for each of the above services from Wilton Radio Limited, trading as iRadio. The services are currently operated by iRadio Limited and iRadio North East and Midlands Limited under two separate sound broadcastings contracts which are due to expire on the 31st December 2019. Both iRadio Limited and iRadio North East and Midlands Limited are subsidiaries of Wilton Radio Limited.”

On completion of the review, the applications will be made publicly available.
