Paul Collins to depart Today FM after two decades

Paul Collins has thanked his colleagues at Today FM as he gets set to leave the station after 22 years.

Paul was originally News Editor for the national station but spent most of his two decades there in Sport.

In a statement, he mentioned Ian Dempsey and Mario Rosenstock and said thanks for the laughs each and every day. He also paid tribute to the great Tony Fenton.

He’s off to focus on further developing his own video content business.

Paul said: “Where did the time go? Opportunities to travel to Argentina, America, China, the Rugby World Cup, International Rules Series and Melbourne Cup in Australia were among the most (ahem) challenging assignments.

“From witnessing sporting history to inaugurating a hurling Puc Fada in the Austrian Alps to presenting Championship Sunday’, most of all I will remember my time with the Today FM family as one filled with friendship and fun and incredible colleagues like the great ‘Dude’, Tony Fenton.

“While I may not miss the alarm clock going off at 5AM every morning, I will miss the award-winning Today FM Breakfast Show crew. I would like to pay particular tribute to two people who have become great friends, Ian Dempsey and Mario Rosenstock, for the laughs each and every day together. Unrale.

“I also want to say a big go raibh mile maith agat to the people from all walks of life who were good enough to grant me time to interview them, some no longer with us like the great Axel Foley, Tony Keady and Cormac McAnallen, gone too soon.

“Most of all I want to thank the family of Today FM listeners for the craic and banter, on what has been an incredible journey. Slån go föill.”
