Classic Hits generates €60,000 with Wish Week appeal

Classic Hits has just completed its annual Wish Week appeal for Make A Wish Ireland, with listeners donating almost €60,000.

The money was raised to help make the wishes of children with life-threatening illness come true.

The four-day campaign kicked off last Tuesday at 7am with PJ Gallagher and Jim McCabe at breakfast time with hourly stories of Wish Families and children sharing their heart-warming memories. These moving tales set to music motivated listeners across the country to dig deep by sending a text worth €4.

Many people gave large sums to the donate website adding to the large final tally and donations are still coming in.

Deputy Programme Director and Wish Week producer Robbie Fogarty had nothing but praise for people who helped. He told RadioToday: “Yet again the people of Ireland have done these deserving children proud by enabling Make A Wish Ireland continue to do amazing work and make a positive difference in the life of sick children across the country.

“Classic Hits is delighted to help such a phenomenal charity and we are very grateful to all our listeners who gave so generously this year.”
