Communicorp launches 24 hours sports radio station

A 24 hours sports radio station has been launched by the Off The Ball team at Newstalk.

OTB Sports Radio will broadcast throughout the day online and will feature forty hours of live programmes every week.

The station will feature the sports shows with the latest news, debate and opinion plus live commentary and sports interviews from a number of OTB broadcasters, including Joe Molloy, Ger Gilroy, Eoin Sheahan and Nathan Murphy.

Rugby, soccer, GAA, racing and golf will all feature along with analysis from Off The Ball experts Brian O’Driscoll, Kevin Kilbane, Kieran Donaghy and Tommy Walsh.

The new station will also broadcast a mix of regular and new feature shows, ranging from ‘The Football Show’, ‘Golf Weekly’, ‘The Hurling Show’ with Shane Stapleton, ‘Off The Brawl’ with Andy Lee, and of course, the ‘DadCast’, along with hourly sports news updates from the Off The Ball team.

Speaking at the launch, Ger Gilroy, Managing Director at Off The Ball, said: “This is a landmark day for sports media in Ireland, as well as a significant moment in the development of Off The Ball.

“Listeners to our daily sports show on Newstalk have demanded more and more sports content from us over recent years, and this therefore feels like a logical, and very exciting next step. Now we will be able to deliver the very best of sports broadcasting, 24 hours a day.

“We will, of course, also continue to broadcast our show on Newstalk everyday between 7pm and 10pm.”
