Learning Waves Skillnet, training body for the Independent Commercial Radio Sector in Ireland, has re-elected Bernadette Prendergast as Chairperson.
Bernadette is Head of News in Galway Bay FM and this is her second year as Chairperson of the training network.
Speaking about her re-election, Bernadette said: “I am delighted to serve a second term as Chairperson of Learning Waves at a time when we are broadening our training portfolio to embrace new challenges.
“As Learning Waves enters its tenth year, staff in independent radio have never been as highly skilled as they are now. This increase in standards is reflected in the fact that 2.5million people listen to independent radio every day, and place a high degree of trust in individual stations”.
Learning Waves Skillnet is funded by its members in conjunction with Skillnets and the network has been successful in securing funding from Skillnets since its inception in 2004. The network provides a wide range of training for all staff working in the sector whilst also providing networking opportunities for those in the sector.
