Westlife’s Nicky Byrne covered Tubridy’s 9-11am show on 2fm today, with One Direction band member Niall Horan being one of his guests.
The 34-year-old former Westlife singer told RTÉ Ten prior to the show how excited he was to fill in for Tubridy: “I’m really looking forward to…jumping into Ryan’s chair for the first time. Obviously Westlife have had a wonderful relationship with 2fm over the years, stretching right back to the late 90s and Gerry Ryan – or ‘Uncle Gerry’ as we called him.
“I really didn’t have to be asked twice when 2fm approached me to fill in on Tubridy.
“It’s massive boots to fill as Ryan is one of our best broadcasters and I’m really looking forward to the challenge. It’s two hours that I’ll cherish and I’m willing to give it my best shot to keep listeners entertained.
“Also my mam will be very proud I’m taking over the ‘big one’ even if its just for one day!”
