There’s a break from the man-heavy daytime schedule on 2fm for a couple of weeks as Ruth Scott co-hosts breakfast this week and Louise McSharry takes mid-mornings next week.
The change in rota is due to Hector having a week off breakfast and Tubridy covering at BBC Radio 2 in London.
So breakfast is extended by an hour till 10am, this week with Paddy McKenna and Ruth Scott, followed by Colm Hayes 10am till 1pm. Next week Louise McSharry’s ‘Summer with Louise’ will air from 10am till 1pm as both Ryan Tubridy and Colm Hayes are away.
RTÉ told RadioToday: “Louise takes a break from her early morning weekend slot on to bring the sounds of summer to weekdays.”
Louise normally hosts weekend breakfast on the national station and said she was shocked when asked to cover: “Yes I was surprised to get the call. I think everyone else was surprised too. That said, this was always my dream to do something like this.
“I’m not going to be holding back or pretending to be something I’m not. I’m going to be myself, straight-talking and not horrible to anyone,” she told the Herald.
Ryan is back in London next week covering drivetime for Simon Mayo at BBC Radio 2.
