Highland Radio keeps Donegal BAI contract

The BAI has awarded the North Donegal franchise area contract in principle to Highland Radio.

If successful through the final negotiations, Donegal Highland Radio Limited (t/a Highland Radio) will continue to broadcast a “local, broad-format radio service for North Donegal”.

Competition for the contract came from Donegal Commercial Radio Broadcasting Ltd t/a DLFM.

Highland Radio Managing Director Shaun Doherty says: “It’s been a very long journey and a painful one at times”.

Gerry Rabbitt, Chair of Highland Radio said: “We are delighted that the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has recognised the strength or our offer and awarded Donegal Highland Radio Ltd with a new 10-year licence. Highland Radio looks forward to continuing to be Ireland’s number one local radio station and increasing our investment in the North West.

“I want to say a very big thank you to all our listeners for their support and to our loyal advertisers and sponsors for the confidence they continue to put in Highland Radio as the best place to promote their business. It is important to recognise that today’s achievement would not be possible without the dedication and commitment of our fantastic staff.”
