Radio NOVA has announced that radio duo ‘Jack & Ali’, formerly of Spin 1038 and Q102 are to join the station’s weekend schedule.
The fun-loving couple are best-known for their innovative ‘Spin Talk’ show, which ran on Dublin-based youth-station Spin 1038 for 5 years, from the radio station’s launch in 2002 right up to 2007 when they left to join Q102.
Jack & Ali join Radio Nova to host a new Saturday morning show from 10am, starting this weekend. The new show will mix music with light-hearted Saturday morning banter.
Nova CEO Kevin Branigan told Radio Today: “We’re very excited to bring Jack & Ali to Nova. They’re perfect for our station and will sound great on Saturday mornings. It’s a time of high radio listenership and we’re very confident that they’ll bring new listeners to Nova as well as keeping our usual listeners entertained as they kick-start their Saturday!”.
Jack and Ali added: “We’re really looking forward to our new show. Nova seems to be taking the market by storm and pretty much everyone we know listens to it at this stage. We can’t think of a more suitable station to be joining and we’re really looking forward to getting on air this Saturday”.
From Philadelphia, Jack’s diverse background includes working in Boston as a sportscaster on a coast-to-coast radio network and touring in the world’s largest circus highlighted by a performance at The White House. Jack currently performs as a juggler, magician and standup comic.
Ali, meanwhile, brings over 15 years of radio experience working both on air and behind the scenes at radio stations such as East Coast FM, 98FM and Spin. She says she has a passion for rock music and a small crush on Bruce Springsteen. Ali once worked as a sheep herder, is from Mayo and currently lives with Jack in Kildare.
Kevin Branigan also told RadioToday that Nova’s further investment comes at a time when the station is celebrating its highest daily listenership since launching 4 years ago. He said: “We’re continuing to invest in our presenter lineup, developing our Morning Glory breakfast show with Marty Miller and Dee Woods, our Work Day with Greg Gaughran and Pat Courtenay and our night-time with Sinead Ni Mhordha, who joined us from Hot Press and Phantom FM last year. Now, adding another married couple, Jack & Ali, to our Saturday morning line-up will give even more reasons for people to tune into us during the high-audience Saturday morning programme time”.
