One expression for Today, Spin SW and Live 95 contracts

The contract renewals for Today FM, Spin South West and Limerick’s Live 95FM are likely to go ahead with the existing operators.

The BAI has received just one expression of interest for each licence area: a National Broad-format Service; a Regional Youth Music-driven Service, serving the south-west of the country; and, a Local Broad-format Service for Limerick City and County.

The Contract Awards Committee of the BAI will meet on 28th April next to consider the expressions of interest received and determine the next stage in the licensing process for each franchise area.

If expressions are only received by the current station operators, a Fast Track procedure usually follows.

Is no one interested in them or is it that they think it’s pointless as the current licence holders will get renewed regardless?

More of the same bland output. Very sad that the people of today will never hear the great radio of the 80s and early 90s.
