Doireann Garrihy and Eoghan McDermott are taking over the breakfast show on 2FM, replacing Breakfast Republic with Bernard, Keith & Jen.
Eoghan is already a presenter on the station whilst Doireann is joining for the new show, having previously worked at SPIN 1038 and Today FM.
Doireann started her radio career by reading the travel news on Eoghan’s show, and the pair caught up with each other on-air recently to remember the time Doireann sang the travel, so it won’t be the first time they have worked together.
The rest of the daytime schedule is changing too, with Jenny Greene making a return to the station to present Drivetime, having previously hosted mid-mornings with Nicky Byrne.
Jenny will also present The Electric Disco on 2FM every Saturday night from 6pm-8pm.
As previously announced, Jennifer Zamparelli is to host her own morning programme, weekdays from 9am – 12pm, as part of the new schedule line up. Tracy Clifford will now come in an hour earlier to present her afternoon show which will air from 12pm-3pm.
Breakfast Republic presenter Keith Walsh will move to the weekends to present his own show, while Lottie Ryan will fill the weekday entertainment slot.
Bernard O’Shea will leave the station to work on other projects.
Head of 2FM and Radio Strategy, Dan Healy told RadioToday: “Five years ago we made changes and created an innovative schedule – listeners made Breakfast Republic the number 1 breakfast show amongst 15-34-year-olds. The time for change has come again and I believe this is a first-class daytime schedule that will deliver once again.
“I would like to thank Jennifer, Bernard, Keith, Lottie and the Breakfast team for all their hard work and dedication over the years, they come off the air with the still the largest 15-34 audience in the country. Jennifer and Keith are going to present their own new shows. Bernard, one of Ireland’s great comedians and content creators will be focusing on other projects. I have worked with Bernard for seven of the last ten years and it has been a huge privilege to work with such a talented man and convinced we will work with each other in the future.
“I’m really confident that our new breakfast duo, Doireann and Eoghan will bring 2FM listeners what they want – and I know Jenny Greene will shake up all our afternoons, in the best way possible.
“2FM is changing during a time of strength and I am really looking forward to hearing our new schedule over the coming months. I want to thank all our listeners for their support with the last schedule over the last number of years. This new schedule is designed specifically for the listener. I also want to thank all the 2FM team for their continuous dedication and commitment.”
According to the the latest JNLR announced today, RTÉ 2FM has a weekly reach figure of 834,000/22% of Adults 15+.
