RTÉ 2FM’s brand new summer schedule launched

The new sound to 2FM started on Thursday with Doireann and Eoghan on Breakfast from 6-9am.

Eoghan McDermott said: “I was forged in the fires of bright, silly and entertaining radio. I’m delighted to be heading back to that lightness, with one of the most exciting broadcast talents Ireland has seen in so long as my co-host. Myself and Doireann look forward to injecting caffeine into our toes from next week”.

Doireann Garrihy said: “I’m buzzing to get started on 2FM Breakfast with Eoghan, we have brilliant plans and can’t wait to get started. Set your alarm clocks!”

Jennifer Zamparelli started her new mid-morning show from 9am-12midday. She told RadioToday: “It’s all about the listeners. We are in this together. I’m going to enjoy it……. Is now a good time to say I hate the sound of my own voice??”

Tracy Clifford’s soundtrack to lunchtime begins at an earlier time of 12pm. She said: “I cannot wait to join everyone all over Ireland for lunch. I’ll be starting at 12 bells with the best music – gas games and of course being the home of Studio 8 – showcasing brilliant Irish music in all genres!”

Jenny Greene takes over the 3pm slot to bring the best of live music, chances to win big and general craic to everyone’s afternoon. Jenny said: “Really excited to be back on air after three months & hopefully bringing a much-needed laugh along with great music and guests to people’s afternoons.

“And yes, The Club Sandwich has been reinvented and will be officially kicking off the weekend every Friday from 5pm. Not forgetting The Electric Disco is coming back bigger and more bangin’ than ever on Saturdays from 6pm.”

Game On will have the usual daily sport analysis and coverage across all that’s happening across the country and beyond. It will now air at the earlier time of 6pm each weekday.

The Tara Stewart Show from 7pm-10pm (Sunday- Thursday) will have rising star Tara showcasing the best in brand new music from chart singles to underground bands.

Tara said: “It’s hard for me to put into words how excited I am to have been given my very own first show on 2FM. I don’t think it’s really hit me but I’m buzzing for this new chapter in my life where I get to share my immense love of music with so many people on the national airwaves.”

Speaking about the new weekday schedule Head of 2FM and Radio Strategy Dan Healy said: “Forty years are even more exciting when radio is about now and next, and here we are celebrating our 40th birthday as we launch a brand new schedule”.
