Multi-genre alternative music radio station 8Radio.com is back on FM in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway for five three day weekends from June 15th to July 14th 2019.
The station will be heard playing its usual mix of alternative music on 105.2FM in Dublin, 106.7FM in Cork, 87.7FM in Galway and 105.5FM in Limerick every weekend. In addition, 8Radio will also broadcast on the éirdab DAB Digital Radio trial in Cork City.
8Radio.com has also recently launched its own Amazon Alexa Skill and Google Action for Smart Speakers.
Station founder Simon Maher told RadioToday: “It’s great to be back on FM as always and giving people who aren’t in a position to listen online a chance to hear the music we like! At this stage I think we have long since proved the value of niche broadcasting and its in the hands of the BAI to make provision for specialist broadcasters whether that be on FM or DAB Digital Radio.
“This isn’t just about 8Radio, this is about ensuring a thriving and diverse Irish radio and music industry.
“I saw a great tweet recently from musician Scroobius Pip which sums up everything that 8Radio is all about. He said “Be vocal about the stuff you love. Being vocal about what you hate is in right now but the stuff you love needs and deserves your support to spread the word and give creators a boost. Shout it from the roof tops!”
8Radio.com is also pursuing further digital distribution options both in Ireland the UK with a view to strengthening its position as a viable niche broadcasting business.
