The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland has received applications from the operators of student radio stations in Cork, Galway and Limerick.
UCC, Flirt FM and Wired FM all want to renew their contracts with the BAI, and will now need to wait for a decision to be made on their futures.
The applications will now be reviewed to ensure that all information requested in the Guide to Submissions has been received and that the applications are valid. On completion of this review, the applications will be made publicly available.
Here are the details of each:
Cork City
An application was received from Student Facilities and Services (UCC) Ltd, broadcasting as UCC 98.3FM, for a community of interest radio service, serving student communities in Cork City. UCC 98.3FM currently operates a 10-year community of interest service which is due to expire on 20th June 2017.
Galway City
An application was received from College Campus Radio Ltd, broadcasting as Flirt FM, for a community of interest radio service, serving student communities in Galway City. College Campus Radio Ltd currently operates a 10-year community of interest service which is due to expire on 20th June 2017
Limerick City
An application was received from Mary Immaculate College, broadcasting as Wired FM, for a community of interest radio service, serving student communities in Limerick City. Wired FM currently operates a 10-year community of interest service which is due to expire on 20th June 2017.
