iRadio is today advertising for a new Breakfast Show presenter after Dave O’Conner announced he is leaving the programme.
Dave, along with his co-host Oonagh O’Carroll were recently voted Ireland’s favourite morning radio show by the readers of rsvpmagazine.ie.
But in a shock move today, Dave put the following message on Facebook and Twitter: “After 7 years I have decided to move on from iRadio. I want to thank everyone for listening. I will miss you. The next step awaits…..”

He later thanked everyone for their support in response to his original tweet. Listeners are asking what will happen to the prank calls, and wished him all the best for his next step.
Dave told RadioToday: “I decided to leave to concentrate on other projects, mainly my comedy franchise Paddyland which is set to tour Ireland and various places around the world. I am also working on several US TV shows as well. Due to the amount of commitment needed for this, continuing to do a daily show which required 4am alarms was not possible.
“I am leaving iRadio on great terms with the management and share holders who called me today to express their disappointment at my decision. I am delighted to have been a part of iRadio and it’s success to date.
“I have received several offers from various radio stations since announcing my departure from iRadio today and am considering all options.
“For now, my main priority will be to get a lie in.”
