RTE’s Eoin McDevitt to launch Griff FM 2016

RTÉ radio presenter Eoin McDevitt will launch Griffith College Dublin’s student radio station this year.

Griff FM is produced and run by students in the Journalism and Media Faculty and will broadcast from Saturday 30th January until Sunday 7th February. It’ll be heard on 107.8FM and will also stream live online.

Speaking ahead of the official launch on 1st Feb, Eoin said: “I’m delighted to get the chance to be involved in launching Griff FM. I’m sure it will be a roaring success and I’d like to wish the best of luck to everyone involved”.

Eoin will also be joined at the launch by a special panel of media presenters & personalities including Dr. Gavin Jennings, Bobby Kerr and Henry McKean.

John O’Donovan, radio lecturer at Griffith College, who will host the launch, said: “We are delighted that Eoin has taken time out of his very busy schedule to address our students and give his insights into an ever evolving and challenging industry. Eoin has shown himself to be a consummate professional on TV, Radio and digital broadcasting for many years.

“We are also delighted to be joined by a wonderful panel for what will be a lively and informative debate, Gavin, Bobby and Henry have a wide range of experience in the industry and we are looking forward to their contributions.”

Programming will include talk based student-produced shows such as Drivetime Live, The Late, Late Breakfast Show, Griff FM Today, The International Show, Lunchtime Live, The Cyber Café, The Weekend Show, The Arts Show and Griff FM Sports Shows, as well as a full daily schedule of current affairs and talk radio, documentaries and music shows.

Griff FM has been the launching pad for numerous former students, including Chris Donoghue of Newstalk and UTV Ireland, Henry McKean, Mark Simpson and Daniel Flanagan also of Newstalk, Louise Denver of RTÉ, and Sinead Dalton.
