8Radio returns for the Bank Holiday weekend

8Radio.com is back on FM in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway from today, May 4th, for the Bank Holiday Weekend.

The multi-genre alternative music radio station will be on-air for five three day weekends from the May bank holiday to the June bank holiday.

8Radio.com will play the same mix of quality Irish and International Alternative music that it plays online and via its Smartphone apps 24/7 but with the addition of 105.2FM in Dublin, 106.7FM in Cork, 87.7FM in Galway and 105.5FM in Limerick every Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Speaking about 8Radio.com and its returns to FM, Managing Director Simon Maher said: “We’re excited to be going back to FM for five more 3 day weekends! Now more than ever it is important that we have strong independent media both in terms of ownership and ethos.

“8Radio.com has always prided itself on not just its support for Indie music but also on being independently Irish owned and very much independent by outlook. The broadcasting business needs homegrown creative outlets whether that be for musicians or new broadcasting talent. We believe that there is both a market and a business model for the service 8Radio.com provides.

“8Radio.com not based on algorithms, focus groups or market research, it’s based on choosing really good songs and having passionate presenters play them!”

The station is currently pursuing digital distribution options both in Ireland the UK with a view to strengthening its position as a viable niche broadcasting business.
