Emmet Kennedy exits Cork’s 96FM after 15 years
After 15 years with Cork’s 96FM, broadcaster Emmet Kennedy has resigned from the station to take up the position of Head of Communications with the Matchbook Betting Exchange.
Emmet has been presenting and producing Podcasts for the company for over a year, which he’ll continue to do, along with working for talkSPORT 2 and ITV in the UK.
The move also allows him to continue to work on his Horse Racing Show ‘The Final Furlong Podcast’ with colleague Kevin Blake, which is part of the SKY owned website ‘At The Races’ stable of online content.
Emmet said: “I had 15 incredible years with the best radio team in the country at Cork’s 96FM. I learned so much during my time there and had the privilege of working alongside some of the best in the business, who aren’t just colleagues, they are my friends. But I’ve wanted to focus on Sports Broadcasting for the last few years and thankfully the opportunities have come my way.
“I can never thank the management of Cork’s 96FM enough for the opportunities and experience they gave me. I’m looking forward to to the content we’re going to produce for At The Races and Matchbook and I’m excited about the next chapter of my broadcasting career.”
It was recently announced that the Final Furlong Podcast will become a twice a weekly show for At The Races and Matchbook intend to produce more Podcast content focusing on Football, Horse Racing, NFL, Golf & Tennis.
A replacement for Kennedy, who was youngest member of 96FM’s line-up, has yet to be announced.
